About Tawnee

I’m a mom of two and a lifelong musician who’s been writing and performing original songs since I was four years old. I’m almost always singing—especially in the middle of real, messy parenting moments. Many of my songs are born on the spot as a way to calm myself during stressful times, bring more joy into the day, or show my kids that even the mundane parts of life can be playful and fun. I’m deeply inspired by the whimsy and magic of childhood, and I try to hold onto my own childlike spirit in everything I create.

After years of teaching music to children, I can confidently say this: all humans are musical. Some of us are drawn to melody or lyrics, others to rhythm, movement, or interesting sounds—but music lives in everyone. Over time, many people lose touch with that part of themselves because they’re told to fit into a box, sing “better,” or stop trying altogether. So many adults believe they aren’t musical because they were shamed away from it. But music is cathartic. It feels good to bang on drums, dance freely, sing wildly in the car or shower, and explore sound without judgment. I’m endlessly fascinated by music and musical instruments, and you’ll often find me deep-diving into how they work or discovering instruments I’ve never heard of before—because music, instruments, and children are endlessly fascinating.

My songs have connected with millions of people because they meet families where they are. They help little ones grow into empathetic, inclusive humans while also healing something tender in the inner child of every adult who hears them. These songs tackle big, meaningful topics—like appreciating our bodies, regulating our nervous systems, and understanding consent—alongside playful moments like getting dressed, eating food, and going potty. With over 30 million views across social platforms, this music continues to resonate because it gives parents permission: to be silly, to connect deeply, and to experience parenting with more joy, curiosity, and love.

When I’m not playing music for children, I’m playing music for adults with my retro rock band Ginger Molasses.
